Janice Atkinson, MEP, has condemned the increasing levels of violence being brought to the streets of the UK by Left wing protesters following the jailing of a masked care worker described by a Judge as marching around Dover on a demonstration “as if he was going to war”.
Andrew Scott, who was previously convicted of common assault in 2014 for attacking Nigel Farage, was this week jailed for a year by Canterbury Crown Court for breaking through police lines and throwing a missile at rival demonstrators.
The court heard that Scott, described by friends as “a gentle and non-violent person”, had gone taken to the streets with hundreds of others with his identity concealed by a workman’s hard hat and a scarf covering his face. The judge told him “People who are prepared to use violence will not be tolerated.”
Janice, who has been threatened with violence and has on occasions needed security and police protection, said: “This “gentle and non-violent care worker” who takes to the streets like a masked warrior is a prime example of the hard Left in this country, Europe and the US and the way they increasingly resort to violence.
“He should immediately lose his job and never again be allowed to work with vulnerable people
“His assault on Nigel was a serious matter as he hit him on the head shortly after Nigel had undergone major neck and spinal surgery.
“It is now time for a change in the law forbidding cowardly and violent protestors from taking to the streets with their faces covered like terrorists. Then civilised society would be able to see exactly who it is up against while the protestors would have to stand on their words, not their violent actions.”
