EFDD and ECR groups keep Netherlands’ No Vote off the EU agenda – see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil
Janice Atkinson MEP has learnt that the EFDD and ECR groups in the European Parliament have decided not to support a motion by the ENF group to discuss the success of the referendum on Ukraine/Netherlands vote in Strasbourg next week.
Janice’s ENF group will certainly raise the issue where possible in debates next week but, as the item is not officially on the agenda, it will not be discussed formally.
Janice said: “The Five Star Movement’s David Borelli, co-president of the EFDD group and Geoffrey van Orden, standing in for the UK Conservative led group, have decided that it is unpalatable that MEPs discuss the implications of the Netherlands’ No vote. Of course President Shultz and Commissioner Juncker will be delighted with this decision.
“Instead we have ‘Learning EU at School’, ‘EU Agency for Railway’ and ‘EU Central Asia Strategy’. And yet again, month after month, we discuss ‘The situation in the Mediterranean and the need for a holistic EU approach to migration’. Instead of discussing the implications of the Dutch vote, we have to sit through more hyperbole, more EU, more open corridors for migrants and quotas and more grand standing, instead of discussing a highly significant anti-EU vote.
“The EU is frightened to death of Brexit and what happened in the Netherlands yesterday. Because they know their crumbling empire is in its last dying days.”
