Brexit resolution should not be voted on, just discussed.

‘We voted to leave this sclerotic union!’ British MEP’s BRILLIANT takedown of Verhofstadt

AN Independent MEP accused EU chief Guy Verhofstadt of being a “socialist” and a “communist” in a rant over the EU’s decision to discuss the bloc’s progress in the Brexit negotiations despite missing a key document from the UK Government.

British MEP Janice Atkinson asked MEPs in EU Parliament to reschedule a key discussion over the Brexit negotiations as the UK Government had not yet submitted its final proposal to Brussels.

During her speech, the British MEP attacked the European Parliament’s Brexit co-ordinator Guy Verhofstadt claiming he was a “socialist” and a “communist” and that any document produced by him and the bloc would be unacceptable for the British people.

Ms Atkinson said: “I apologise to the house that my government hasn’t come up with a definitive document and this is a great shame because we voted two years ago to leave this sclerotic union.

“However, any document that includes ECJ oversight and doesn’t take back control of our fishing waters is unacceptable.

“And there is another reason as well, because any document that has been produced by Mrs Merkel’s people, Mr Verhofstadt, the socialist and the communist sitting opposite, would be totally unacceptable to the British people.

“So, I suggest we vote on that but you know what? I might guess what the vote might be!”

Ms Atkinson’s proposal to change the EU’s agenda was denied by the majority of the MEPs present at the plenary session.
